The Baglio del Cristo di Campobello project is a visionary one, as its creators, Angelo, Domenico and Carmelo Bonetta, launched it in order to successfully bottle "Sicilianity". This ambitious idea was supported by the invaluable contribution of Riccardo Cotarella, one of Italy's most important enologists. The winery, which is very modern as it was renovated 12 years ago, immediately focused on enhancing the characteristics of an area with a high potential: the chalky limestone hills south of the town of Campobello di Licata. The vines grow all around the estate, on gentle hills of chalky limestone, at an altitude of 300 metres in the Campobello countryside. The climate in summer is the scorching one typical of the
Sicilian hinterland, although softened here by cool breezes coming from the nearby Sicilian
Channel. Grillo, Chardonnay, Nero d'Avola, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot grapes ripen on this beautiful soil. The first harvest was only in 2007, however, in just a few years the winery has been able to establish itself not only on the Sicilian wine scene, but also throughout Italy.
