Founded in Haro, Rioja in 1879, Compañía Vinícola del Norte de España (CVNE) has remained in the hands of its founding family for five generations. From its historic home in Rioja’s Barrio de la Estación, CVNE has played an important role in the development of modern Rioja, combining generations of winemaking knowledge with a continuous spirit of innovation. Its long history is closely tied to the vineyards and traditions of the region, with a philosophy centred on expressing the character of each vineyard and place of origin.

Over the years, CVNE has expanded its presence beyond its historic Rioja roots, bringing together a diverse family of estates and wines across Spain. Imperial and Monopole represent two of CVNE’s historic Rioja labels, while Viñedos del Contino reflects a pioneering single-estate approach in Rioja Alavesa. Beyond Rioja, Bela expresses Ribera del Duero, Virgen del Galir showcases Godello and Mencía from Valdeorras, and La Val specialises in Albariño from Rías Baixas. Together, they reflect the diversity of Spanish wine while remaining united by CVNE’s commitment to origin, vineyard character, craftsmanship and winemaking tradition.
