Aster Finca El Otero 2019

In 1988, Grupo La Rioja Alta, based in Haro, began researching and analyzing several terroirs in Ribera del Duero in order to find the best area to start a new winery. After much consideration, in 1991 they decided to settle in the town of Anguix, acquiring some vineyards and planting some new ones. The latter, though, did not reached the required quality level until ten years after, in 2001. More than a quarter of a century after its foundation, it is fair to say that the wines produced by Bodegas Áster have managed to combine tradition and innovation.

100% Tinta del País

A classic and bold Ribera, muscular but well-bred. Complex but approachable. Intense and creamy with black fruits and restrained tannins. Intense and deep crimson, with clean garnet rim. The nose stands out for its complex intensity, with ripe blackberry and blackcurrant fruit, spicy hints of tobacco leaf, white pepper, nutmeg and liquorice. Mineral aromas open up to fine wood, cedar, mocha and coffee beans with underlying forest floor notes. Full-bodied, savoury and food-friendly, with a smooth, elegant entry, a supple, fleshy mid-palate and a pleasant, balanced aftertaste with spicy and balsamic hints.
